Bristol Celebrates was a festival linking faiths, cultures and communities that was organised by the Bristol Inter Faith Group (BIFG), with the support of Bristol City Council’s Community Cohesion Team, Faithnetsouthwest, Bristol Multi Faith Forum and The Pierian Centre and took place at the City Academy on Sunday 21 November 2010.
Bristol is home to a vibrant range of communities, each with their own unique customs and cultures, celebrations and history. The Bristol Celebrates festival celebrated all the different faiths and cultures that make Bristol such a special place to live. There was an exciting and diverse programme of workshops for adults and children, plus guest speakers, music, performance, exhibitions, displays and food on offer throughout the day. It was a chance to learn about others’ faiths and beliefs, and to make new friends. 830 visitors, faith leaders and representatives, volunteers, artists and performers attended the festival yesterday making it a huge success.
You can view a slideshow of photographs from the festival taken by Terry Rook from Glance Image below and you can view higher quality images here.
Also you can now download the Bristol Celebrates Report, which summarises the project’s main achievements and outcomes and tells the story of the event in photographs – there are two PDF files here Bristol Celebrates Page 1 and Bristol Celebrates Page 2.
Bristol Celebrates is planning a number of Dig Deeper workshops and events over the coming months, all of which are free and will develop some of the themes that came out of the main festival, please visit Dig Deeper for more information.
